“A casual relationship with reality”

"Half in English and half in... squiggly!"

Oh, "Arrested Development", I've missed you! I was a little worried, because except for a very funny sequence about all the times Michael has threatened to abandon the family business, the first 10 minutes or so was just so-so. But then after a commercial break it kicked into high gear, and from there on out, it was brilliant.

I'm really interested to see the ratings tomorrow. Last season, the ratings weren't nearly as good as they should have been, and if the show hadn't had a massive critical reception and extremely devoted fans (limited as they were), the show probably would have been cancelled. Fox, to their eternal credit, renewed the show, and were rewarded with several Emmy wins, including "Best Comedy" (although inexplicably not Best Supporting Actor). Fox also changed its timeslot so it immediately follows "The Simpsons". The timeslot change and the emmy win hopefully will mean a decent up turn in the ratings. I'm not actually predicting one, mind you, because recent events (about which I can't mention because of a one-week ban on that topic) have caused me to once again question my prognostication skills. Basically I'm crap at predictions. So, instead, I'm hopeful for an increase in ratings.

At any rate, Arrested Development (and The Incredibles) was just what I needed.
